Girl not hurt after her car flips over near Fallston

A 17-year-old driver who escaped injury after her car flipped over on a wet Fallston road Monday has been identified as Nicoletta Fakas, of the 2400 block of Haddon Hurst Court in Fallston.

A second vehicle in the accident was a 2009 Chevy Malibu driven by Brad Phillips, 58, of the 1200 block of Fristoe Court in Forest Hill.

The girl was driving a 2009 Nissan Rogue when it hydroplaned on Carrs Mill Road near Winters Run Bridge at about 11:45 a.m., Harford County Sheriff's Office spokesman Eddie Hopkins said.

Only one car was originally reported, but Hopkins said Tuesday that "Mr. Phillips car was shown as being struck. When Ms. Fakas's car stopped sliding, she tapped his car, causing minor damage."

Although the girl was originally reported trapped in the vehicle, Hopkins said he did not believe it was a significant entrapment.

"The deputy told me they... were able to reach in and help her unfasten her seat belt and then she crawled out," he wrote in an e-mail Monday.

The girl was not injured in the crash, he said.

The Fallston Volunteer Fire Company responded to the accident, and Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company was also called.
