A woman was taken to Maryland shock trauma in Baltimore Thursday after she was injured in a fight in Edgewood with three other women.

Details on the incident are unclear, said Edward Hopkins, spokesman for the Harford County Sheriff's Office. He added none of the injuries are life-threatening.

The incident began shortly before 6 p.m. and stemmed from some sort of fight between two women on the basketball court at Cunion Field, Hopkins said.

The girls were fighting and "one was getting the better of the other," Hopkins said, when a third woman stepped in to "try to get even," he said. She pulled out a knife, he said, and started swinging it around and hit a number of people.

The victim in the fight, who Hopkins said was in her late teens to early 20s, was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center to be treated for a head wound that was not life-threatening.

Three other women, all in their mid to late-20s, were in custody, Hopkins said. Two of them were taken to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air to be treated for cuts to their arms and shoulders. A third woman was in custody at the sheriff's office southern precinct.

Hopkins said deputies are unsure what precipitated the fight and what charges will be filed.
