Man accused of pulling fire alarm over closed-caption 'Avengers' showing requests jury trial

The Bel Air man accused of pulling a fire alarm at Regal Cinemas this spring because he was angry about a showing of "The Avengers" requested a jury trial in Harford County District Court Thursday morning.

Instead of entering a plea on his charge of pulling a false alarm at the Abingdon theater, David Walters, 34, of Royal Oaks Drive, prayed a jury trial before Judge Susan Hazlett.

On May 14, Walters "became disruptive and argued with the theater manager after discovering 'The Avengers' movie he was watching was a 'closed caption' film," according to a press release. "Management offered a refund or future tickets, which he refused and returned to the theater."

"Once the movie ended, Walters became belligerent and argumentative with management once again and at that point Walters intentionally pulled the fire alarm in the lobby and left the premises," the notice continued.
