The Bel Air Lions Club recently honored H. Arthur Brown Jr. for his 50-plus years of membership with Lions Club International and the local Bel Air Lions Club.
"Our slogan is 'We Serve' and Lion Art Brown served the greater Bel Air community for over 50 years as an exemplary citizen of Harford County. It is an honor and a privilege to know and work with Lion Brown and the other Bel Air Lions who give so much of their time and money serving our community." King Lion (President) Donald Stewart of the Bel Air Club said.
When asked how he first got involved with the Lions Club, Brown said, "It was a long time ago that someone asked me to come to a meeting and see what we do. After that I signed right up and haven't stopped yet."
Brown joined the Bel Air Lions Club in April 1962 as a young physical chemist working at Edgewood Arsenal. Lion Wilson Street was his sponsoring Lion who asked him to join the club.
Brown has served on numerous community service and fundraising committees such as the blood bank, Christmas tree and fruit sales and eye and hearing screening. He has also served on nearly every committee and held every position on the local club board of directors, including president in 1969-1970.
Brown was born in 1931 and is still an active member of the Bel Air Lions Club.
