Bel Air man arrested on 11 counts of possessing child pornography

A Bel Air man was arrested by Maryland State Police on possession of child pornography charges Friday morning.

Walter Edward Aycock, 61, of the 900 block of Winters Court, was arrested around 6:32 a.m. and charged with 11 counts of possessing child pornography, said Lt. Matthew W. Krail, commander of the Maryland State Police Bel Air Barrack, in a news release.

According to Krail, in February 2013, a Federal Bureau of Investigations agent in Oklahoma located a person sharing child porn over a file-sharing network.

The FBI in Baltimore continued to monitor the activity, which led to a search warrant by FBI and Maryland State Police to Aycock's Winters Court residence on June 6, 2013, Krail said.

Computers with digital media and photographs depicting "children involved in various sexual activities" were seized from Aycock's residence and later analyzed by the FBI Digital Analysis Research Center, Krail said.

Aycock was indicted by a Harford County grand jury on Jan. 7 and an arrest warrant was issued charging him with child pornography.

Aycock is being held without bail at the Harford County Detention Center in Bel Air, pending an appearance before a judge, Harford County Sheriff's Office spokesman Edward Hopkins said Saturday.
