Baltimore County Savings Bank celebrated joining Downtown Bel Air May 18 with the grand opening event of a new Bel Air branch. As a community bank serving Harford County since 1975, the bank renewed its commitment to the Bel Air community with its new location on the corner of Main Street and E. Gordon Street, near the Klein's ShopRite.
"The new Bel Air branch is a true testament to our longevity and commitment in this community," Joseph Bouffard, bank president and CEO, said in a press release. "The original Bel Air branch was our second branch location, established in 1975. And 38 years later we're still invested, understanding the importance of Main Street and how the vibrant downtown area fits into the success of the community."
"I'm ecstatic you've invested in our hometown," County Councilman James "Capt. Jim" McMahan Jr. said in the press release. "People need the convenience – the convenience of what you've established here in this community."
Bel Air Town Commissioner Robert Reier added that with the addition of the branch on Main Street, "It's great to fill a vacancy in the downtown area, particularly on a prominent corner such as this. Thank you for investing in our town."
Prior to moving to Main Street, Baltimore County Savings Bank previously leased space in the shopping center off Baltimore Pike. The bank sought the opportunity to expand its present space and find a central location, while also demonstrating a long-term commitment to contribute to the vibrancy of Harford County. The new Bel Air branch is at 203 N. Main Street. Overall BCSB services hundreds of Harford County residents and businesses with a total deposit base exceeding $90 million. In addition to Bel Air, BCSB's other Harford locations include Abingdon, Forest Hill and Hickory.
The relocation of the Bel Air branch marks another milestone for this sound community bank. The location in the heart of Bel Air also extends its community support with recent partnerships with the Bel Air Downtown Alliance and Town of Bel Air, including sponsorship of the Downtown Destiny campaign focused on supporting the vibrancy of the Main Street business community, as well as sponsorship of the Hearts of Harford art project.
"While the location has changed, rest assured the personalized service, competitive products and friendly staff you are familiar with remain ready to serve our customers. As with any of our 16 convenient locations, the new BCSB Bel Air Branch is committed to addressing individual needs, whether for personal or business banking, lending or financial planning," Bouffard said in the press release.
The ribbon cutting ceremony was followed by a grand opening celebration including food, giveaways and prize drawings, all free and open to the public. The bank held drawings throughout the day, giving away Orioles baseball tickets as well as a grand prize drawing for a flat screen television. Spring potted plants were given to guests, with face painting, balloons and piggy banks provided to children attendees.
