Five local boys soccer teams push through to regional semifinals

Five teams – C. Milton wright, Patterson Mill, Fallston, Joppatowne and Havre de Grace – moved on after Tuesday's MPSSAA boys soccer regional tournament play to reach the sectional finals in their respective brackets.

The top-seeded Fallston Cougars earned a season-extending victory, blanking visiting fourth seed Elkton, 4-0, in the 2A East, Section I semifinal round.

The Cougars' victory set up an All-Harford sectional final between Fallston and second-seeded Patterson Mill, which defeated Rising Sun, 2-0, in its Tuesday game. That matchup will be played Friday at Fallston's home field; the winner will move on to the 2A East title game.

The Cougars saw their goals evenly spread out in Tuesday's win, with Jordan Puglisi, Aidan O'Donnell, Vinnie Profili and Cooper Andrus all finding the Elkton net once.

Ryan Buckler, Sam Boyd and Owen West all had one assist in the victory.

Patterson Mill tops Rising Sun

Patterson Mill Huskies knocked off visiting third seed Rising Sun, 2-0, in the 2A East, Section I semifinals.

Matt Sprouse and Larsen Green each had one goal for the winning side.

Caleb Hebb and Chris Jones dished out one assist each.

Patterson Mill goalie Kevin Neumann made seven saves.

HdG blanks Bo Manor

The top-seeded Havre de Grace Warriors extended their season by at least one more game with a 3-0 home-field victory over fourth-seeded Bo Manor in the 1A South, Section I semifinals.

The Warriors will host third-seeded Joppatowne on Friday in the sectional final, as Joppatowne advanced as well on Tuesday, beating Perryville on penalty kicks.

Havre de Grace's goals were scored by Nick Burley, Connor Haffey and Elliott Scott.

The Warriors led the game, 1-0, at the half.

Joppa wins on penalties

The third-seeded Joppatowne Mariners earned a win on penalty kicks, outlasting second-seeded host Perryville from the 12-yard hash to take a 2-1 win.

The game, tied 1-1 after two halves of regulation and two sudden-death overtime periods, moved to penalty kicks when the deadlock could not be resolved. In the penalty phase, the Mariners converted four times, while the host-team Panthers only made three shots.

Joppatowne, which trailed, 1-0, at halftime, found the game-tying tally in the second half when Thaliek Willis put a shot in the Perryville net.

CMW tops Bel Air

Second-seeded C. Milton Wright came through with a one-goal victory, defeating visiting third seed Bel Air, 1-0, in the All-Harford, 3A North, Section II semifinal matchup.

The win earned CMW a Friday home game with fifth-seeded Patapsco in the sectional final.
