Bel Air kept itself in contention for a UCBAC boys lacrosse division title Wednesday by visiting and beating C. Milton Wright, 12-10, in Chesapeake (upper) Division play.
The Bobcats (4-0 league, 7-2 overall) outscored the Mustangs, 5-3, in the final two quarters after the game went to the half in a 7-7 deadlock.
"That was a great battle between two talented lacrosse teams. My hat goes off to the Mustangs as they played a great game," Bel Air Head Coach Scoop Kelly said. "I am very pleased that in the end we were able to pull out the UCBAC win. They moved the ball well and were extremely athletic. It is a shame that one team has to take a loss."
Bel Air scoring was led by Carson Kalama's five-goal effort and Parker Jones had three. Joey Creaghan tallied two goals, while Calvin Fleagle and Tom Pfeiffer netted one goal apiece.
Fleagle had four assists and Kalama had two, while single assists were credited to Pfeiffer and Creaghan.
Alex Meholic paced the Mustangs (2-2 league, 8-3 overall) with four goals and Paul Mirable added two goals. The Mustangs also got single goals from Ben Boyd, Alex Kleinberg, Jon Amos and Hunter Moss.
Manny Mastromanolis dished out three assists for CMW and Boyd had two. Meholic, Andy LeBrun and Mirable also had assists.
Bel Air goalie Gavin Hanley made six saves and CMW keeper Ryan Malone had eight.
Cobras beat Eagles
Harford Tech celebrated Senior Night on Wednesday in a big way, hosting and defeating Bo Manor, 13-1, in Susquehanna action. The Cobras (3-1 league, 4-4 overall) led 8-1 at the half.
Junior Tyler Fullem fueled the Cobras attack with five goals and four assists. Fullem also collected six ground balls. Senior Zack Valenti capped off his senior night with two goals, four assists and five ground balls. Fellow senior Josh Winter added two goals and two assists and freshman Griffin Pfarr added a goal.
Junior Tom Burley led the Tech midfield with a pair of goals and five ground balls. Senior Ron Huber had a goal and five ground balls and senior Greg Ransone had six ground balls. Freshman Nick Letts won four of six faceoffs and sophomore James Butler had four ground balls.
The defensive effort was led by juniors Andrew Valenti, one assist, three ground balls, seven takeaways; James Holcomb, four ground balls, four takeaways; Colin Dow, three ground balls, two takeaways; and freshman Trevor Crehan, three ground balls and five takeaways.
Freshman goalie Chris Stallings was solid in goal, making 10 saves.
Cougars win third straight
Havre de Grace played visiting Fallston pretty tough Wednesday night for one half, but the talented Cougars outscored the Warriors, 11-2, in the second half, en route to an 18-6 UCBAC Chesapeake victory.
Havre de Grace (1-4 league, 4-5 overall) trailed, 3-1, after one quarter and 7-4 at the half, before the Cougars (3-1 league, 9-3 overall) pulled away.
Marc Badger's six goals led the Cougars and Kyle D'Onofrio added five goals. Wes Rumple scored three times and Connor Chenworth had two goals. Jermy Scranton also scored.
The Cougars also had a slew of assists, led by Badger and James Glezen, with three each. Nick Baker and D'Onofrio had two assists each.
Havre de Grace was led by Donald Matts' two goals and three ground balls, while Casey Brown added one goal and two assists. Brian Cameron had a goal and an assist and Nick Burley and Chris Anderson also had a goal each.
Cougars keeper Mark Wollenweber had seven saves and Warriors goalie Jake Laubner had nine saves in goal.
Cougars beat Huskies
The boys lacrosse teams from Fallston and host Patterson Mill started an UCBAC Chesapeake Division game Friday that was halted in the second period by lightning.
The two teams met Tuesday to continue the contest, which when stopped, was tied at 4. In Tuesday's conclusion, Fallston added one more goal in what was left of the first half en route to a 9-5 win.
Kyle D'Onofrio led the Cougars with four goals, while James Glezen added two goals. The Cougars also got goals from Marc Badger, Sean Lewns and Jeremy Scranton.
Josh Wilson scored two goals to lead the Huskies (0-4 league, 3-6 overall) while Chase Tallon, Sam Caretti and Michael Dinatale scored single goals.
Badger, Nick Baker, D'Onofrio and Glezen had assists for Fallston and Brendan Egan and Caretti had assists for the Huskies.
Fallston goalie Mark Wollenweber made 11 saves and Patterson Mill keeper Will Urban had 10.
Cougars nip Lions
Fallston also won a non-league game Monday, beating host Queen Anne's, 5-4.
Badger scored twice, while single goals were scored by D'Onofrio, Glezen and Wesley Rumple.
D'Onofrio, Glezen, Rumple and Scranton had assists and goalie Wollenweber made 10 saves.
