C. Milton Wright edges John Carroll in boys lacrosse

Two schools separated by a little more than a mile met on the lacrosse field Wednesday, when C. Milton Wright hosted John Carroll in a boys lacrosse contest.

When the final whistle sounded, it was the Mustangs who claimed victory, edging the neighboring Patriots, 12-10. The game was tied at 6-6 at the half.

Ben Boyd provided half of the Mustangs scoring with six goals, while Andy LeBrun and Paul Mirable each scored twice. Alex Meholic and Manny Mastromanolis also scored for the Mustangs.

Meholic also dished out four assists, while single assists were credited to John Amos, Garrett Barker, Mirable and Mastromanolis.

Michael Thomson paced John Carroll with three goals. Jake Brown and Eric Riley netted two goals each, while single goals were tallied by Sully Gerety, Eric McIntyre and Clark Grube.

Gerety and Brown added two assists each and Carson Walton and Grube each had one.

In the goal, CMW keeper Ryan Malone made six saves as did John Carroll goalie Alex Gambrell.

Cobras beat Mariners

Harford Tech made a visit to Joppatowne Wednesday and dealt the hosts a 21-9 setback. Tech led 10-4 at half.

Tech's attack was led by Zack Valenti, who finished with nine goals and four assists, and Tyler Fullem, who added six goals and four assists. Midfielders Greg Ransone and Ron Huber each had two goals and one assist and attackmen Griffin Pfarr and Josh Winter had a goal apiece.

Tech freshman Nick Letts was 12-of-22 on faceoffs and he had two assists. Also contributing with assists were James Butler and Nate Haskell.

Leading the defense were James Holcomb, four ground balls and two of six faceoffs, and Andrew Valenti, three ground balls. Chris Stallings anchored the defense in goal for the first half, recording eight saves and allowing four goals. Connor Word played in the second half, making three saves.

Huskies take loss

Patterson Mill hosted Archbishop Spalding Wednesday and lost, 9-3, after trailing 6-1 at the half.

Josh Wilson, Chase Tallon and Michael Dinatale accounted for the Huskies scoring with a goal each. Wilson added the Huskies lone assist.

Huskies goalie Will Urban had a busy day, making 12 saves.

Hawks drop Elks

Boys lacrosse action was at a minimum Tuesday, though North Harford was in action, hosting Elkton and winning big, 13-1.

Brooks Billings and Brett Hurley paced the Hawks with two goals each, while nine others tallied single goals. Scoring were Max Mullin, Nolan Hood, Andrew Siegel, Evan Siegel, Andrew Kropkowski, Mike Boyko, Will Duley, Mic Green and David Cordell.

Mullin and Boyko dished out two assists apiece, while single assists were credited to Hurley, Duley and Green.

Hurley led with six ground balls and Evan Siegel had five. Kropkowski, Zach Stike and Kyle Six each had four.

Hawks goalie Matt Goedeke finished with two saves.

Evan Siegel won nine of 10 faceoffs and Andrew Siegel won three of three.

Patriots also in action

John Carroll was also in action, hosting Park School and beating the visitors, 11-7.

Highlighting the Patriots win, Thomson scored three goals and Brown scored two. Brown was also dominant in faceoffs, according to Patriots head coach Matt Blair.
