In Tuesday's Chesapeake (upper) Division boys basketball matchup at Joppatowne, the C. Milton Wright Mustangs walked away victorious after Mychal Stefanides knocked down a buzzer-beater three-point shot to hand the host-team Mariners a 79-76 defeat.

The Mustangs were trailing, 76-74, with under a minute left in the game, when CMW's Will Hazelton hit a game-tying field goal. After the Mariners' final possession ended without the hosts scoring, CMW got the ball back, which set the stage for Stefanides' game-winning, 25-foot shot.

Stefanides finished the game with a team-high 21 points, while also totaling four assists and four steals. Hazelton had 17 points and four assists, while Henry Cuffie netted 12 points in the victory. Corey Bays put up 17 points and four assists, while Connor Bays posted nine points for the Mustangs.

Joppatowne's Gary Blackston led all scorers with a 29-point effort, and Sir Nicolas Phillips had 19 points for the Mariners. Jermaine Head Jr. scored 15 points, and fellow Mariner Rashaad Gore had 11 points.

Hawks edge Cougars

The North Harford Hawks finally snapped their season-long Chesapeake Division winless streak Tuesday night, edging the visiting Fallston Cougars, 47-45.

The Hawks were leading, 47-41, heading into the game's final minutes, but following a pair of missed free throws and two Fallston field goals, their lead was cut to two points with seconds left to play.

Fallston tossed up a three-pointer at the buzzer that would have won the game had it fallen, but it went wide and North Harford held on to take the victory.

"I'm very proud of our resiliency," North Harford head coach Jeff Burrows said. "This was a big win."

North Harford's Brett Hurley had 13 points and four assists, while Andrew Klapka scored 12 points. Ryan Feiss added 11 points, four rebounds and four assists.

Aberdeen wins in overtime

Needing a victory on Tuesday night to keep themselves in the Chesapeake Division boys basketball hunt, the Aberdeen Eagles rose to the occasion, outlasting visiting Patterson Mill to take a 74-69 victory in overtime.

With the upper-division victory, Aberdeen improved to 5-1 against Chesapeake opponents and 7-4 overall. The Huskies fell to 8-6 for the season, and 3-4 in upper-division contests.

Aberdeen's Jaleel Gibson was his team's driving offensive force, racking up 25 points. Gibson also notched four steals and four assists.

Darryn Garner scored 17 points and grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds in the victory.

Havre de Grace over Rising Sun

The Havre de Grace Warriors took a road victory Tuesday, bashing the Rising Sun Tigers, 75-52.

The win put Havre de Grace at 4-7 overall, and 4-3 in Susquehanna (lower) Division play.

Chop Jones led Havre de Grace in scoring with 17 points, while Kareem Croxsell had 13 points, seven rebounds and three blocks. Zayrron Blake scored 12 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in the win. Havre de Grace's Jordan Hawthorne had 11 points, 13 assists and eight rebounds.
