Bel Air's Board of Town Commissioners recently honored a local business that occupies a unique niche in the world of health care.
During the most recent town meeting on July 15, Mayor Edward Hopkins presented a proclamation to Lisa Limberger, founder and president of Healthcare's Information Edge Corp., an independent health care information systems consulting firm, whose headquarters is in the 200 block of Fulford Avenue.
Hopkins said the proclamation would serve as "an official welcome" from the town.
"Not a lot of firms do the kind of work they do," he said, explaining he was "impressed" during a recent visit to the company.
The proclamation notes the company employs 74 employees and subcontractors and its mission is to "help health care institutions meet their information and technology goals, as well as provide highly talented and qualified personnel to fill pivotal interim executive positions within healthcare and various other institutions and companies."
According to its website, the company provides a variety of support services for healthcare software products developed by leading companies, including McKesson, Epic, Seimens, Cerner, Nexgen and Allscripts. Those products cover everything from patient information storage and management to financial and billing management. The company can also provide temporary managers in a variety of IT and healthcare management disciplines.
"We are very grateful to be in the town of Bel Air," said Limberger, who attended the town meeting with her husband, Tim, and their daughters. The company began in Cecil County, she explained, and when they began to grow and needed a new home, "Bel Air was our number one choice."
"We appreciate everybody helping us get to where we are today," she added.
