Bel Air man charged with abuse of brother's dog

A Bel Air man has been charged with abusing his brother's dog.

Robert Steven Bacote, 37, of the 2300 block of Calvary Road in Bel Air, is charged with tethering and the abuse of an animal stemming from an incident on June 17, 2011.

According to charging documents, on June 17, 2011, Officer Karen Harris, of Harford County Animal Control, found Bacote's brother's dog "tied out at 201 Powdesrby Road with the tether run through the basement steps railing and unable to move. He had water he could not reach and no shelter."

Bacote was the one responsible for caring for the dog at the time, according to court documents.

He was given 30 days to pay a $20 fine and has failed to do so. A trial has been set for Jan. 2, 2013 in Harford County District Court.
