State police have charged a 21-year-old Edgewood man and a 17-year-old Joppatowne girl with several felonies in the carjacking of a woman Monday night in Harford County.
Police were still looking for two young men in connection with the incident.
Joshua Prince Freeman and the teenage girl were each being held in lieu of $750,000 bail at the Harford County Detention Center. They face kidnapping, carjacking, armed robbery and first-degree assault charges.
According to police, Kara Smithson, 20, of Pylesville was seated in her parked Chevrolet Cobalt about 10 p.m. in the Harford Square neighborhood of Edgewood, talking to the 17-year-old girl, whom she considered a friend. Three men then forced their way into her car, police said.
Smithson told police that, while one man drove, the others struck her in the head several times and threatened her with a handgun and knife. The suspects also attempted to extort money for Smithson's release from her relatives, according to police, before forcing her from the car on Philadelphia Road in Joppa.
Smithson was treated at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center for her injuries.
Her car was set on fire and abandoned in an area behind Prospect Mill Elementary School in Bel Air, police said. The State Fire Marshal's Office was investigating the arson.

I'm trying to figure out when it became ethical for a newspaper to publish the names and pictures of people who have only been accused of committing crimes. I want those responsible brought to justice just as much as anyone else. But WHAT IF this guy pictured is innocent? None of you people writing these comments have any idea if this guy did it. Even with a preponderance of evidence, it's not right to publish names and photographs of suspects until there is a conviction. The media in this country has turned into the journalistic equivalent of professional wrestling.
