Patterson Mill, Aberdeen get Monday swim wins

Teams headed toward county finals

Patterson Mill swimmers won 12 individual races and 4-of-6 relays Monday night to beat Havre de Grace and Fallston at Magnolia Middle School.

The Huskies won the combined scoring 137-48 over Havre de Grace and 124-63 over Fallston. Fallston beat Havre de Grace, 102-83.

In boys scoring, Patterson Mill beat Havre de Grace, 68-23, and Fallston, 56-37, while Fallston beat Havre de Grace, 59-32. In girls scoring, Patterson Mill beat Havre de Grace, 69-25, and Fallston, 68-26, while Havre de Grace beat Fallston, 51-43.

Luke Holloway led the Huskies in boys action, winning the 200 IM and 100 free events. Other wins came from Jack Leary, 100 fly; William Murtagh, 500 free; and Wil Nguyen, 100 breast. The Huskies also won the 200 medley relay.

Havre de Grace won two events with Sean Allen taking the 50 free race and Zac Orzewicz, the 100 back. Fallston won the 200 and 400 free relays and Coby Bracken was first in the 200 free.

Patterson Mill had three double winners in the girls meet. Grace Baltimore won the 200 free and 100 fly events, while Lydia Elchik won the 200 IM and 100 breast races. Annie Tompkins added wins in the 50 and 500 free races. The Huskies also got a win in the 100 back race from Ana Hughes. The Huskies swept all three relays as well.

Fallston's Allison Grasser won the other girls race, the 100 free.

Eagles crush Mariners

Aberdeen won all but three races at Edgewood Middle School on Monday in an 210-43 win over Joppatowne. The boys score was 111-9 and the girls, 99-43.

The Aberdeen girls had the two double winners. Briann Long won the 200 and 500 free heats, while Kaeli MacDonald won the 100 fly and 100 back races. Other Aberdeen wins were posted by Gabrielle Lavarias, 200 IM; Sierra Smith, 50 free; and Sophia Dow, 100 breast. Aberdeen won the 200 medley and 400 free relays.

Julyann Marx won the 100 free race for Joppatowne and the Mariners added a win in the 200 free relay.

The Aberdeen boys swept the relays and got wins from Kieran O'Connor, 200 free; Alex Dunn, 200 IM; Dan Cullinan, 100 fly; Matthew Patrick, 100 free; Robert Brosh, 500 free; Kevin Rodriguez, 100 back; and Will Pappas, 100 breast.

Joppatowne's lone win came from Richie Wilson in the 50 free.

Mustangs roll on

CMW easily stayed unbeaten in Thursday's meet at Magnolia Middle against Patterson Mill and Joppatowne. The Mustangs won the combined scoring, 134-53 over Patterson Mill and 155-19 over Joppatowne. Patterson Mill also beat Joppatowne, 142-17.

In boys scoring, CMW beat Patterson Mill, 74-20 and Joppatowne, 83-2, while Patterson Mill beat Joppatowne, 71-2. In girls scoring, CMW beat Patterson Mill, 60-33 and Joppatowne, 72-17, while Patterson Mill beat Joppatowne, 71-15.

Ryan Baldino led the CMW boys with wins in the 100 free and 100 back races, while other winners were Tyler Kosar, 200 free; Jake Schafer, 200 IM; Wayne Walker, 100 fly; Kyle Rutherford, 500 free; and Griffith Scarborough, 100 breast. The Mustangs also swept all three relays.

Luke Holloway posted Patterson Mill's lone boys win, taking the 50 free.

Megan Cowan anchored the CMW girls with wins in the 200 IM and 100 fly events, while other winners were Molly Jordan, 100 free; Lauren Rutherford, 500 free; and Laila Hanson, 100 breast.

Annie Tompkins was a double winner for Patterson Mill, winning the 50 free and 100 back, while Grace Baltimore won the 200 free race.

The Mustangs also won all three relays.

Hawks beat Warriors, Rams

North Harford also won Thursday at Edgewood Middle, beating Havre de Grace, 93-83, and Edgewood, 116-60. Havre de Grace defeated Edgewood, 109-67.

Havre de Grace won the boys scoring, 50-42 over North Harford and 53-40 over Edgewood, while North Harford beat Edgewood, 58-35. In girls scoring, North Harford beat Havre de Grace, 51-33, and Edgewood, 58-25, while Havre de Grace beat Edgewood, 56-27.

Leading the Havre de Grace boys, who won the 200 medley relay, were Zak Wilson, 50 free; Ryan Burkhardt, 100 fly; Zac Orzewicz, 100 free; and Sean Allen, 100 back.

North Harford's Tanner Russell was the lone individual boys double winner, claiming the 200 IM and 500 free events. Grant Badders, 200 free, and Kyle Russell, 100 breast, were also winners. The Hawks won the boys 400 free relay.

Lizzie Catrambone led the Hawks in the girls meet, winning the 100 fly and 100 breast. Other winners were Hillary Young, 200 free; Kate Anderson, 500 free; and Emily Catrambone, 100 back. The Hawks swept all three relays.

Edgewood's lone win came in the boys 200 free relay.
