Two girls basketball teams, looking to get a UCBAC Chesapeake Division win, met in Bel Air Monday night where the Bobcats hosted the Cobras of Harford Tech.
The Cobras (2-4, 4-9) got the best of the Bobcats (3-4, 7-8), winning, 46-32. The Cobras led at the half, 22-20.
Courtney Logan led the Cobras with 14 points. Breyana WcWhite added the double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds and Jada Bright had 13 points and seven rebounds.
Autumn Dougherty paced the Bel Air efforts with eight points.
Eagles win big
Aberdeen (14-1) stepped out of league play Monday night to beat visiting City, 81-53.
Tatiana Gibson scored 14 points to lead four Eagles in double figures. Jae DeVeaux and Anija Stancell added 13 points each and Lakerra Cooper scored 12.
Zakeya Jones and Asha Thomas also scored nine points apiece for the Eagles.
John Carroll (3-3, 13-4) won at St. Paul’s, 64-48, Monday in IAAM A conference play.
Branyelle Carillo’s 19 points and 10 rebounds led the winners, while Julia Williams added 13 points and nine rebounds. Savannah Simmons added 12 points and nine rebounds and Cassidy Kupchinskas had 11 points and six rebounds.
On Saturday, John Carroll hosted Harford Tech and won the non-league game, 74-35.
The highlight of the game came as Simmons scored her 1,000th career point. She finished with 14 points. Kupchinskas led with 20 points.
Patterson Mill (2-12) played away at Maryvale on Monday and lost the non-league game, 51-36.
Meadow Santoriello led the Huskies with 15 points and Delaney Madsen added nine points.
Rams lose, too
Edgewood (0-7, 0-13) is still winless after losing at Rising Sun (1-6, 3-7), 53-29, in Susquehanna Division play.
Riley Johnson scored 12 points to lead the Rams.
Harford Christian (1-5) lost Monday in MACSAC play at Rosedale Baptist, 41-23.
Alex Lewis scored six points and Taylor Martino had five for the Eagles.
Mustangs stay hot
The C. Milton Wright girls basketball team showed no let down Thursday night, two days after the Mustangs big win over previously unbeaten Aberdeen.
The Mustangs (7-0, 12-2) rolled past visiting Patterson Mill (1-6, 2-11), 44-21 in UCBAC Chesapeake Division play.
Caela Phillips and Sydney Bukowski scored seven points apiece to lead the scoring.
Mariners march on
Joppatowne (7-0, 10-1) stayed perfect atop the Susquehanna standings Thursday, winning big at Rising Sun (0-6, 2-7), 72-29.
Taylor Jones scored 23 points to pace three Mariners in double figures. Shawkina Mulizam added 18 points and NaTori Blackman tossed in 15.
Aberdeen (6-1) bounced back from Tuesday’s loss with little issue on Thursday, beating host Harford Tech, 61-39, in Chesapeake play.
Stancell scored 18 points to guide the Eagles scoring and Jae DeVeaux added 15 points. Tristyn DeVeaux and Cooper had eight points each.
Bright’s 12 points led the efforts of Tech. McWhite added 10 points.
Bobcats beat Cougars
Bel Air reached .500 Thursday with its 38-32 Chesapeake win at Fallston (2-4, 5-8). The Bobcats led at the half, 18-14.
Julia Henry led the winners with 15 points. Angelica Quintero led Fallston with 11 points, while Maria Tamaris scored eight and Bekah Taylor netted seven.
Hawks beat Rams
North Harford (5-2, 5-7) added a Susquehanna win on the road Thursday, beating host Edgewood, 49-13.
Every Hawks player played and scored, led by junior Cameron Sawyer, who had a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Junior Alison Bufano added seven points, while senior Kayla Mangin scored six. Juniors Jess Smith and Autumn Susa contributed five points apiece.
Alex Warren led the Rams with five points.
In Susquehanna play Thursday, Havre de Grace (2-4, 2-9) lost at North East (3-3, 4-7), 36-26. Stats were not provided.
