Five boys soccer teams move on in region playoffs

Five Harford County boys soccer teams advanced to region semifinals after each won second round games on Tuesday.

Winners are scheduled to play Friday, except for Fallston, which is playing Thursday.

The Cougars (10-4) got their win over visiting North Harford (7-7), 3-2, in Class 2A East, Section I play.

Ben Stroka, Trey Book and Cory Reed netted a goal for Fallston, while Jake Kauffman and Ben Muzzelo added assists.

The Cougars will host Rising Sun (9-4) at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Mustangs, Bobcats win

C. Milton Wright (11-2-2) and Bel Air (11-4) both won in 3A North, Section II play and will battle each other in Friday’s section final/ Bel Air will play at CMW at 6 p.m. on Friday.

CMW’s win came at home, an 8-0 win over Aberdeen (7-7).

Ryan Belfiore had the hat trick for the winners, while single goals were scored by Ethan Dolezal, Sean Fleming, Brett Lindsey, Donovan Abbott and Paul Rose.

Conner Appleby added three assists with Dolezal, Rose, Zach Heiderman and Abbott adding an assist each.

CMW goalie Ryan Miller made one save before giving way to Zach Hetrick, who also made one save.

Aberdeen goalie Carlos Alvarez had eight saves.

CMW led at the half, 3-0.

Bel Air’s win came over visiting Patapsco, 4-2, in a penalty filled game by the Patriots.

Patapsco had eight yellow cards and a red card late in the game.

The Bobcats were trailing, 2-1, at the midway point of the second half. That’s when the Bobcats scored three times over a five-minute span to take control.

Bel Air goals were scored by Connor Lorenz, Ethan Lassen, Vince Rose and Aurthur Jackson. Assists from Rose (2), Lassen and Josh Munley.

Bel Air goalie Jake Fiacco had five saves in the win. The game was tied 1-1 at the half.

Huskies, Mariners win, too

Patterson Mill (8-6) and Joppatowne (8-8) were winners in 1A East, Section I play.

Patterson Mill will host Joppatowne in Friday’s section final at 6 p.m.

Patterson Mill’s win came over visiting Colonel Richardson, 5-1.

Joe Cicenia led the Huskies with two goals and an assist, while Andrew Papageorgopolus, Ryan Greezicki and Cameron Neumann scored one goal apiece.

Matt Funk, Tom Kraus, Brendan Wreszien and Greezicki each tallied assists.

Goalkeepers Ryan Jeon and Zack Fenlock both played in goal for the Huskies.

Joppatowne’s win came over visiting Kent County, 4-1.

Tahjon Willis scored twice with Sean Mulder-Stoupikas and Andrew Harney adding a goal each.

Freshman defenders Joel Sands and Bailey Mccarthy controlled the opposing forwards, while Zack Wagner, Gavin Welsh and goalie James Van Horn controlled the box.
