Havre de Grace boys move to top of division with basketball win over Bel Air

The Havre de Grace (3-1, 5-4) boys basketball team put itself at the top of the UCBAC Susquehanna Division standings Monday night. The Warriors turned back visiting Bel Air (3-2, 3-8), 67-51.

Caprice Butler’s double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds led the win and Jordan White added 18 points.

Bel Air stats were not provided.

Mariners beat Patterson

Joppatowne (7-2) went on the road Monday to beat Patterson, 61-56, in non-league play.

Montrell Horsey and Jalen Willis scored 19 points each to lead the Mariners. Jalen Morris added 11 points.

Cougars fall in OT

Fallston (6-4) fell to visiting South Carroll, 62-50, in overtime Monday in non-league play.

Mason Mullaney hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to send it into overtime, but Fallston was outscored, 14-2, in the extra period.

Ethan Sommer, Ryan Cassedy and Cam Conroy scored 10 points each in the loss. Mullaney finished with nine.

Mustangs beat Rams

C. Milton Wright (3-0, 8-1) stayed alone atop the UCBAC Chesapeake Division standings with its 58-35 win over visiting Edgewood (0-4, 2-9) on Friday.

Imran Husain scored 15 points to lead the Mustangs scoring. Quincy Haughton added 11 points and three steals and Brye Hopkins had eight points and seven rebounds.

Jalen Jackson scored nine points and Colin Miller added five assists.

Leading Edgewood were Monzell Ware, 11 points; Civon Edwards, nine points; and Stephan Lievers, eight points.

CMW led at the half, 21-12.

Cougars beat Eagles

Fallston (2-2, 6-3) evened its Chesapeake record with an 63-53 victory over visitiing Aberdeen (1-3, 3-6) on Friday.

The win gave the Cougars back-to-back wins after losing five straight games. "Mason Mullaney set the tone from the opening tip and really did a great job of handling pressure,” Cougars coach Brian Hulka. “They have some really athletic guards and Mason, for the most part, was able to penetrate and provide our shooters scoring opportunities."

Mullaney scored 16 points himself, but it was Ethan Sommer (10 rebounds and two blocks) leading the way with 23. Ryan Cassedy also scored 16 points.

Isaac Webster led the Eagles 17 points and 14 boards, while Kai Davis added nine. Phillip Greene scored eight points and Robert Whitley added seven. Tre Gross added 10 rebounds.

Mariners beat Huskies

Joppatowne (3-1, 6-2) was also a winner Friday, beating visiting Patterson Mill (2-2, 8-2), 69-61, in Chesapeake play.

Jalen Morris scored 17 points to lead the winners and Jayden Johnson scored 14. Jalen Willis added 10 points. DeAnthony Creighton led with seven rebounds.

Warriors beat Tigers

Havre de Grace (2-1, 4-4) got to .500 on Friday with its 68-35 Susquehanna Division win at Rising Sun (1-2, 1-6).

Caprice Butler led with the double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds. Josiah Scott added 13 points ans six assists.

Other Friday score

In Susquehanna play, North Harford (1-3, 3-6) upset host Bel Air (3-1, 3-7), 44-43. Stats were not provided.

Thursday score

Fallston added a Chesapeake win at Edgewood on Thursday, 69-54.

Sommer had another big game for the Cougars, scoring 24 points, grabbing 14 rebounds and blocking three shots.

Cassedy pumped in 23 points, while Collin Hoerr scored 11. Mullaney finished with eight points.

“Monster game from Ethan Sommer, who really controlled the game with his rebounding,” coach Hulka said. ”Mullaney and DeMarco Reed-Postell did a great job of handling their pressure and getting us some open looks.”
