A woman and two small children were fired upon while their vehicle was stopped at an intersection on the city’s east side Thursday evening, Aberdeen police said.
No one was injured. Police investigating the incident say they believe the vehicle, which was hit by bullets multiple times, was targeted by at least two shooters.
Aberdeen officers were called to the area of Osborn Road and Osborn Alley for reports of possible gunshots around 6:24 p.m., according to an Aberdeen Police Department news release.
Multiple witnesses said they heard what sounded like gunfire in the area, and officers immediately began to search the neighborhood for a possible victim or suspect, according to the news release.
Around 7:09 p.m. the Aberdeen Police Department received a call from a woman who said her vehicle had been struck by gunfire.
During their investigation, officers were able to determine that two suspects fired multiple shots toward her vehicle while the woman was stopped at the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and Post Road, police said.
The car was hit multiple times, endangering the woman’s life and the lives of her two small children who were also in the car, police said.
“Thankfully, none of them were injured. It does not appear that this was a random act of violence, but that the victim was purposely targeted,” the news release states.
