Harford's Empty Stocking Fund gives thanks for recent donations, ready for busy season

The Aegis
The Klein Family has been a major part in supporting the Empty Stocking Fund for many years

For 25 years, the Empty Stocking Fund has been assisting Harford County children with toys, clothing and food. During this time, the generous donations of residents has made this possible by providing new toys and money. These donations enable our many volunteers to meet the needs of our most vulnerable population, the children.

Since it started, the Empty Stocking Program has assisted more than 15,400 children with toys, clothing and food, creating a joyous and fulfilling Christmas for the young people of Harford County and their families.

All donations of money and new toys to the Empty Stocking Fund stay in Harford County to help our fellow residents in need. This non-profit charity is staffed entirely by volunteers from our community, and we appreciate all donations as we move into our busiest time of the year.

Our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the Klein Family and ShopRite Partners in Caring/Bagging for Hunger Day for their support and giving to the Empty Stocking Fund again this year. Your generosity of $6,000 will again help us reach the goal of $80,000.

The Klein Family has been a major part in supporting the Empty Stocking Fund for many years in helping the less fortunate families we have been able to reach each year. We also want to thank the many customers who came to shop to show their support. Your thoughtfulness and support has helped many charities and food banks throughout Harford County for many years, which has been a blessing for Harford Countians. Thank you so much.

We would also like to thank Michael Blum for his time and thoughtfulness in organizing this yearly event.

Thanks also to our supporters for their monetary donations of $41,450 to help reach the Empty Stocking Fund's goal of $80,000.

Special thanks to Barry Decker of Aberdeen who, instead of receiving gifts, asked for toys to donate to Empty Stocking Fund on his 75th birthday. Happy birthday, Barry.

Thanks for many years of support to Walmart for a donation of $2,500, the Harford County Electrical Contractors Association Inc. for a donation of $1,000 and Freedom Federal Credit Union for their donation of $1,000. Thanks also for donations from Dennis F. O'Brien P.A., $1,000; Eddie Hafferman Foundation Inc., $1,350; and Burger King Restaurant of Churchville for fund-raisers which netted $290 and Burger King of Hickory for a donation of $223. Special thanks to Wendy's Restaurant of Hickory for fund-raisers which netted the Empty Stocking Fund $776. Also, thanks to Applebee's Restaurant for the flapjack breakfast fund-raiser of $377.
