Abingdon woman charged with stabbing boyfriend

An Abingdon woman was charged with stabbing her boyfriend on Saturday after a night of drinking, according to a statement of charges.

Michelle L. Bright, 42, of the 3700 block of Federal Lane, allegedly attacked her boyfriend at her home at 4:32 a.m., according to the statement.

Bright said the victim had attacked her after a night of drinking and then took their dog into the backyard.

While the victim was in the backyard, Bright grabbed a knife to defend herself, and said she stabbed him in self-defense after he came back in the house, according to the statement of charges.

The victim was taken to Upper Chesapeake Hospital with two wounds in the arm, two wounds in his leg and a scratch on his leg.

Further investigation revealed the couple had been drinking for most of the evening.

Bright was charged with first-degree and second-degree assault and ordered held on $25,000 bail Monday by Harford County District Court Judge Mimi Cooper.

She was released the same day, according to online court records.
