Man held without bail in December Edgewood shooting

The Harford County Sheriff's Office arrested a man who allegedly shot his sister in Edgewood in December.

Keef Devon Alfonso Burley, 20, who has no fixed address, was ordered Thursday to be held without bail by District Court Judge Victor Butanis.

On Dec. 29, Burley allegedly pulled out a gun and fired a shot through the door of a home in the 1800 block of Grempler Way, which struck the victim in the back.

Her injury was not believed to be life-threatening, Sheriff's Office spokesman Eddie Hopkins said at the time.

The bullet lodged near her spine, according to the statement of charges.

Deputies said the woman and her mother, who was not named, were trying to get Burley to leave because he did not live there, according to a press release in December.

EMS units from the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company responded and transported the victim to Johns Hopkins Bayview Hospital in Baltimore.

Burley was charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, using a firearm to commit a crime and vandalism.
