Second Lt. Stephen James Peck, son of William and Donna Peck of Abingdon, graduated from the U.S. Military Academy on May 25.

A 2009 Bel Air High School graduate, Peck concentrated his studies at West Point in information technology. He also attended the Naval Academy in Annapolis for one semester, and he completed Air Assault School in his sophomore year. He was recently commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army within the armor branch and following several months of officer training in Ft. Benning, Ga., will report to Fort Stewart, Ga., for his first assignment.

The mission of the U.S. Military Academy is to educate, train and inspire the corps of cadets so that each graduate is a commissioned leader of character committed to the values of duty, honor, country and prepared for a career of professional excellence and service to the nation as an officer in the U.S. Army.
