Kenneth Joseph Dieknett, 44, of the 900 block of East 44th Avenue in Eugene, Ore., was arrested after being pulled over by Maryland State Police on Tuesday at about 9:20 p.m. between the exits for Belcamp and Bel Air, according to the statement.
Dieknett was driving "72 miles per hour in a posted 65 mph zone," according to the statement, and was also following a vehicle closer than reasonable, according to the statement.
The trooper noted "a host of criminal indicators" in the white Subaru Legacy, including that Dieknett was not an authorized driver on the rental vehicle.
A search of the vehicle by a police dog revealed 4,999 tablets of LSD in a backpack, as well as .05 grams of marijuana and a marijuana smoking device.
Dieknett was charged with importing drugs into the state, possessing LSD with intent to distribute, possessing a drug other than marijuana, possessing a large amount of drugs, distributing or dispensing a large amount of drugs, following a vehicle too closely and driving too fast on the highway.
Two other people were in the car but were not listed in online court records.
