Bel Air's Loiodice, Newton close out golf season

The 2013 high school golf season came to an official close Wednesday and Bel Air's Nick Loiodice and Tyler Newton were both part of the final state tourney round at the University of Maryland Golf Course in College Park.

Loiodice shot an 80 on Wednesday for a two-day total of 159, while Newton shot 79 on Wednesday for a two-day total of 160. Both scores put both golfers just outside the top 20. Loiodice tied for 10th last year as a junior.

"They played good golf and represented Bel Air High School well," Bobcats Head Coach Ryan Doyle said.

Glenelg's Steven Segrist Steven and Wooton's Justin Feldman both shot 73-73 for 146. Segrist then defeated Feldman on the first playoff hole to win the state title.

Bryana Nguyen of Atholton shot 66-68 for 134 to win the girls title for a second straight year and give Howard County a sweep of individual state titles.
