Harford Tech's girls volleyball season ends in loss to Rising Sun

Harford Tech's run toward a possible region title in girls volleyball came to an end Wednesday night as the Cobras were beaten in straight sets by host Rising Sun, 3-0.

The scores were 22-25, 18-25 and 11-25.

The Cobras (11-6) were led by Alyssa Hockaday, four aces; Karizma Hockaday, two kills; Amber Olson, one ace; three kills, five blocks; Sydney Tudor, one ace, one block; Jamie Tubao, three kills; and Jenna Hathazi, four blocks.

Panthers move on

Perryville advanced to the Class 1A East Region Championship by beating visiting Bo Manor, 3-1, Wednesday night.

The Panthers (15-3) dropped the first game, 21-25, but battled back to take the next three. Scores were 25-14, 25-16 and 25-23.

The Panthers will host the region title match tonight (Friday) at 5 p.m. The opponent will be Colonel Richardson.

Leading the Panthers in Wednesday's win were Morgan Tennant, 31 assists, 14 service points, 12 kills, 10 digs, six aces; Emily Merklinger, 17 kills, 14 service points, five aces; Caitlin Davidson, 32 digs, 12 service points; Teri Wennersten, 13 service points, four blocks; and Kylie Shiflett, 20 digs, 8 kills.
