Downed limbs leave hundreds of homes in Edgewood, Bel Air without power Sunday

More than homes and businesses in an Edgewood neighborhood were without power Sunday afternoon, according to Baltimore Gas & Electric.

The outage was caused by a tree that had fallen on a wire, BGE spokeswoman Rachael Lighty said.

The properties were off of Willoughby Beach Road, east of Edgewood Road.

BGE expected power to be restored by about 4 p.m. As of 7:30 p.m., 123 homes and businesses still did not have power, according to the BGE online outage map.

Downed wires also cut off electricity to nearly 200 BGE customers in the Emmorton area south of Bel Air Sunday.

That outage was reported at about 1:45 p.m., in the area of Duncannon Road. About 170 homes and businesses were still without power as of 7:30 p.m.

A downed tree or limb was again the culprit, the utility said.
