Fires deliberately set on Edgewood lawn, investigators say

Fire investigators and police are seeking information about whomever set several small fires on the lawn of an Edgewood home on Thursday evening.

The Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company was called at 6:50 p.m. for a report of a fire on the lawn of a single family home in the 400 block of Winterberry Drive.

According to a notice of investigation from the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office, the fire was brought quickly under control by five firefighters who responded.

No monetary damage was reported. The fires did not spread to the home.

Investigators have determined some sort of incendiary device was used, and the fires at the rear of the dwelling had several points of origin.

The Harford County Sheriff's Office was notified about the nature of the fires, according to the Fire Marshal's Office.

No arrests had been made as of Tuesday and the investigation is continuing, Dep. Oliver Alkire, an assistant spokesman for the State Fire Marshal, said Tuesday.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Fire Marshal's regional office in Bel Air at 410-836-4844.
