The Bainbridge Museum will hold its Grand Opening and Open House on Saturday, Aug. 17 from 1 to 5 p.m. in the new digs at 6 S. Main Street. The members of the Museum Association moved all the artifacts - lock, stock and barrel - on March 13 and the museum re- opened for business in April in the old Bank Building. The museum continues to be open every weekend from 1 to 5 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday. Regarding the Open House, as their flier says, "You will be glad you came!!!" Ship 166 Navy Band and Ship 166 from Lancaster, Pa., is scheduled to appear.

Speedy recovery wishes to Steve Gibson, Barton Road, as he has had a recent stay at Christiana Hospital.

The committee members and team members of the Relay for Life of Cecil County sponsored their final fundraiser for the 2013 season – a Variety Quarter Auction – held in the offices of The Cecil Whig newspaper in Elkton last Saturday evening. More than 100 items were auctioned off and over $1,400 was raised for the American Cancer Society. Beth Zych, ACS Liaison, prepared dinner for the patrons and team captain Anne Gibson ran the auction with the help of her daughter, Stephanie Gibson, and granddaughters, Christine Farley and Elizabeth Gibson, all of Port Deposit. My husband, Rick, served as auctioneer, while team captains, Sabrina Scholl of Rising Sun and Millie Jones of Elkton served as quarter collectors, or runners.

Catherine Creswell, Burlin Road, subtracted a year from her age on Aug. 10. And Adele Ferrante, of Perryville, blew out 95 candles on Aug. 11.

The Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW Post 8185 entertained the veterans from Perry Point Medical Center on Sunday, Aug. 11 at the post home on Route 222. Auxiliary president Kathy Heaton and her team including Linda Cotton, Stephanie Gibson, Christine Farley, and Ruth Turner served dinner followed by entertainment by DJ Bob Cross.

Rick and I celebrated 41 years of marriage on Aug.12. Whoo hoo!

Karen Sice, Honeysuckle Drive, and Kim Flayhart, S. Main Street, enjoyed mutual birthdays on Aug. 14.

Congratulations to Carrie and Joel McCall, Conowingo, as they celebrated their wedding anniversary on Aug. 15.

Frannie Kapral of Colora and Steve Gibson of Barton Road, celebrated mutual birthdays on Aug. 15, along with Peggy Gabbert.

Debbie Barton, of Colora, and Jamie Tennis of Rising Sun both celebrated on Aug. 16.

The Ladies Auxiliary to the Water Witch Fire Company will meet at Woodlawn Station on Monday, Aug. 19 at 6:30 for their annual picnic.

The Paw Paw Museum, sponsored by the Port Deposit Heritage Corp. and located at 98 N. Main Street, will be open on August 25 from 1 to 5 p.m. and again on Sept. 8.

Tickets just went on sale for Good Shepherd School's annual Crab Feast, scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 29 from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the school hall. The Crab Feast will be catered by The Wellwood and the donation is $45 for each adult. Enjoy steamed crabs, chicken, pit beef, corn on the cob, crab bisque, salads, beverages, and dessert while watching the Ravens play football on the big screen TV's.
