Port Deposit Chamber's Kentucky Derby event a success

The recent Kentucky Derby event, held at the Carriage House and sponsored by the Port Deposit Chamber of Commerce, was a grand success. Folks enjoyed food, music and lots of fun while raising funds to restore the drinking fountain in the town square.

David Fasterling, son of Chuck and Roxanne Sturdy Fasterling, Colora, blew out the candles on his birthday cake on May 10.

The Paw Paw Museum, at 98 N. Main St., opened for the season on Sunday. The museum will be open on the second and fourth Sundays through October and is sponsored by the Port Deposit Heritage Corporation.

The Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW Post 8185 entertained the Perry Point patients on May 11 at the post home, 520 Susquehanna River Road. Kathy Heaton and her crew of Ruth Turner, Anne Gibson and Stephanie Gibson served a meatloaf dinner which was followed by one of the last performances by DJ Bob Cross. Bob has provided music every month for many years but will be moving soon to Ohio. Thanks, Bob for your many hours of service to the Perry Point veterans!

Happy birthday to Maggie Jackson, Jackson Park Road, as she celebrated big time on May 13.

Tim Gibson, Port, enjoyed birthday greetings on May 14. Tim has been recuperating from recent surgery.

Richard Tennis, Rising Sun, celebrated his big day on May 15.

The next chicken barbecue carry-out dinner at the Water Witch Fire Company will be Saturday at 1 p.m. Stop by Woodlawn Station off Tome Highway and Abrahams Road and pick up your chicken dinner.

A Basket and Bag Bingo will be held on Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 201 Mt. Royal Ave., Aberdeen. The event is sponsored by two Relay for Life teams: Grace's Grateful Grapes and Roar for the Cure (Aberdeen Lioness Lions). Call Brenda, 410-273-7332, for information.

It's finally here! Tome's Landing Marina, at 68 S. Main St., invites all to attend this year's Demo Days on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Stop by and check out the new boats.

The fireworks were a big hit at the Water Witch fore company carnival last Friday night. In fact, the carnival was well attended all week. Thanks to our firemen and ladies for providing us good food and entertainment last week.
