Perryville to celebrate the holiday with Christmas Tree Lighting

The holiday season is here, which means it is time for the annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony in Perryville.

The free event is open to Christmas lovers of all ages.

Head down to the lot adjacent to Rodgers Tavern on Bond Street this Saturday, Dec. 14, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. to join in the festivities.

Kids will get a chance to sit on Santa Claus' lap and reveal if they have been naughty or nice this year. Hopefully, no Perryville children will end up with a lump of coal in their stockings.

Perryville Mayor James L. Eberhardt will read a holiday favorite story to the crowd before the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony. His selection will be "The Night Before Christmas."

Residents can also enjoy some family friendly crafts and grab a free light refreshments while listening to Christmas carols from the student choirs at Perryville Elementary, Middle and High Schools.
