The Havre de Grace Warriors U9 Lacrosse team was invited to the annual Overlea Classic Lacrosse tournament Saturday and Sunday. The Warriors' road to the championship went through Overlea, Edgemere, Sparrows Point and Parkville to get into the championship game against Kelly Post. The Warriors fell behind by three goals, twice, in the championship game, but battled back like true Warriors to take the lead. The Warriors were up by a single goal with 20 seconds left in the game when Kelly Post scored to tie the game 8-8 and send it into overtime. The Warriors held strong and their endurance prevailed with a goal late in overtime to win the tournament title. The victory was achieved by the Warrior pride the kids carried all year long with an undefeated regular season in the county. The teamwork, dedication and commitment paid off in the end when it mattered the most. This special group of boys played as a family with their hearts out and they earned the title as champions.
