Armed robbery reported a week late at Havre de Grace motel

An armed robbery that happened Jan. 13 at Havre de Grace's Best Budget Inn was reported four days later, city police said.

The victim told police at 1:41 p.m. last Friday that on Jan. 13, the victim heard a knock on his motel room door between 6 and 7 p.m., Havre de Grace police spokesman Ofc. Jeff Gilpin said Thursday.

The motel is in the 900 block of Pulaski Highway.

When the door was opened, a man rushed into the room, pointed a black handgun at the victim and another person in the room, Gilpin said.

The suspect allegedly hit the victim in the head with the gun, took several prescription medications and some money and ran off in an unknown direction, he said.

No injuries were reported.

The victim did not report the incident because of fear of retaliation, Gilpin said.

The suspect is described as a black man about 6 feet all, with a heavy build, he said.

Detectives have yet to identify any suspect and the incident is under investigation.
