Spring may have officially arrived in late March, but Mother Nature found fit to continue some cold and dreary weather for us.
But now, we are looking at a new month of happenings to cheer the Aberdeen Senior Center. The spring flowers have already appeared.
To start off April, the Diabetes Support Group is on the calendar to meet on Tuesday, April 2 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. This group is facilitated by a group of retired nurses who give their time to supply diet tips and other helpful information.
Following on Thursday, April 4, from 10 a.m. until noon, there is blood pressure screening scheduled.
Friday, April 5, as is always on the first Friday of the month, there is Men's Discussion Group from 9:30 until 10:15 a.m.
On Monday, April 15, there will be Senior Council Meeting from 11 a.m. until noon. This is the perfect opportunity to come and get to know what the senior council does, and get involved.
Also on April 15, Sharon Lipford will discuss how to keep a healthy mind and spirit, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
On Tuesday, April 16, there will be Coffee Talk with Suzanne from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. This is the time to get an update by Suzanne Streeter, center division manager, about what is happening at the senior center.
Get ready for Big Bingo on Thursday, April 18. From 11 a.m. until noon you can enjoy bingo with a time for good food that is good for you, as well! Please call the center for details at 410-273-5666.
On Friday, April 18, the Veterans Discussion Group will meet from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Ollie Dorsey will lead the discussion about issues on interest to veterans.
Tuesday, April 23, it will be the time to "Step Into Spring." Music by Smooth Groove from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. will be an opportunity to let the "Gentlemen of Jazz" cheer the season!
On Thursday, April 25, John Butler will give a slide presentation of places of beauty and animals of interest. Yes, "Preserving Our Beautiful Planet," is an event you do not want to miss!
