Here it is June, and summer is just a week or so away! Aberdeen is getting into summer programs and concerts, classes, and lots to do.
At the Aberdeen Senior Center, today is the first Friday of the month and the Men's Discussion group is meeting from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. In an informal setting, there is opportunity for interesting discussion topics.
What is June without a picnic! On June 12, there will be a picnic from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The cost is $2 per person, but EVERYONE MUST SIGN UP! The telephone number at the Senior Center is 410-273-5666, or come to the Center at 7 Franklin Street. You don't want to miss out on a fun picnic.
On Friday, June 14, there will be a staff meeting, and all centers will be closed.
On Monday, June 17, The Senior Council will meet from 11 a.m. until noon. This is a perfect opportunity to come and get to know what the Senior Council does, and get involved!
On Tuesday, June 18, the Diabetes Support Group will meet from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. This group is facilitated by a group of Retired Nurses who give their time to supply diet tips and other helpful information.
On Wednesday, June 19, there will be a volunteer luncheon from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
On Thursday, June 20, there will be bingo from 10 a.m. until noon. You can enjoy playing bingo, and have a healthy lunch afterward!
On Friday, June 21, the Veterans Group will meet from 9:30 until 10:15 a.m. There will be issues of interest to veterans.
On Wednesday, June 26, Senior Center summer registration ends!

And today, June 7, the Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce is holding A Taste of Cheer from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express. This promises to be a great event with a silent auction with a complimentary glass with each ticket. Blue tickets, which include free beer and wine tasting, includes hor d' oeuvres, and are $40. Gold tickets for non-drinkers, designated divers or those under 21, are $20. Call 410-272-2580 for more information.
And talking about Aberdeen's Chamber of Commerce, they have just distributed their 2013 Chamber of Commerce Directory & Business Guide. Historically Aberdeen has been a convenient transportation center, so on the cover, Fast Track Your Business in Aberdeen! is illustrated by a photo of a passenger train arriving at "Aberdeen, Home of Opportunity."
