The last Havre de Grace Arts Commission summer concert tonight (Friday) at 7:30 p.m. in Tydings Park. The 229th Army Band will perform the last concert of the season free and open to the public. Since July is National Picnic Month, celebrate by bringing picnics and chairs to the concert. No rain date.

Saturday morning, 9 a.m. to noon, drop by the Havre de Grace Farmers Market, 450 Pennington Ave. at Washington Street. With July as National Blueberry Month and National Pickle Month, find those treats at the market sponsored by the Havre de Grace Main Street Inc.

Since July is National Hot Dog, National Lasagna and National Baked Beans Month, I wonder what the volunteers will be serving at Grace Place Serving Place, St. John's Episcopal Church, 410-939-2107, on July 29, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A free, hot luncheon is served to those in need.

This day in history...Ray Astor reminded me that July 21 is the anniversary of the Korean Armistice of 1953. Thank you, Korean War veterans!

Madelyn Shank phoned to report that July 26 is a busy day for the Havre de Grace Presbyterian Church at 551 Franklin St. A food pantry called The Vine opens from 10 a.m. to noon, every fourth Saturday of the month. Also on July 26, a book sale will be held in the Fellowship Hall, 10 a.m. to noon.

Since July is National Ice Cream Month, celebrate the following with the frozen treat. Birthdays include Zack Parks (July 26) and Adam Datesman (July 30). Anniversaries: Fred and Tara Zellman (July 26); and Ed and Sandy Matthews (July 31). Congratulations.

Look for First Fridays in Havre de Grace, Aug. from 5 to 9 p.m. downtown.

The Havre de Grace Historic Preservation Commission is pleased with the 70 oval blue and white signs encouraging one to experience, promote, traverse, waddle and walk the blue line of the 3-mile trail through the Havre de Grace Historic District and downtown. Completers of the trail route can reward themselves with an oval blue and white "I walked the Lafayette Trail, Havre de Grace, MD" car decal sticker ($2 plus tax) available at the Havre de Grace Visitor Center, 450 Pennington Avenue.

The trail is also marked with 57 blue and silver medallions embedded in the sidewalk, corresponding to 57 historic Havre de Grace structures described in the "Lafayette Trail: a self-guided tour of Historic Havre de Grace" brochure, available at the Visitor Center and City Hall.
