The American Cancer Society sponsors its Relay for Life of Havre de Grace, Friday and Saturday, 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. with an opening ceremony at 7 p.m. The overnight event raises funds to support the society and celebrate cancer survivors. For info, check http://www.relayforlife.org/havredegrace.
Mary Boehly informed me about the first Concert in the Park for this summer, Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Tydings Park. Free and open to the public, the four-piece group, Dean Sapp and the Harford Express will perform bluegrass music (www.deansapp.com). Bring chairs and picnics. No rain location. Summer concerts are sponsored by the Havre de Grace Arts Commission. Next up June 14 – the Klassix with classic top 40 and current hits.
Pick up the new publication "Trees of Tydings Park" by the Havre de Grace Municipal Tree Commission, available at City Hall or the Havre de Grace Visitor Center. That will give you something to explore in the park before or after the concert.
Steppingstone Farm Museum will host the Celtic Festival, Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. featuring bagpipe music, Celtic music, dancing, singing, sheepherding, clan gatherings, vendors, military regiment, food, tours and more. Grace Place Serving Center at St. John's Episcopal Church, 114 N. Union Ave. in Havre de Grace, 410-939-2107, will host a free, hot lunch to those in need June 11, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
