An effort to "Save Our Skipjack" is scheduled for Saturday, April 5 at the American Legion Post 47, 501 St. John St., Havre de Grace, 410-939-0234. The band "The Rowdy Boys" will entertain and Chesapeake Bay foods will be served. Tickets are $30.
Earlier Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon, join the volunteers at the Susquehanna Museum at the Lock House for a clean-up of the house and grounds. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for participants. Join in the fun!

All my Scottish readers will be celebrating National Tartan Day Sunday April 6. Passed unanimously by Congress (that may be hard to believe) March 20, 1988, the resolution established National Tartan Day to recognize the contributions that Americans of Scottish ancestry have made to America.

The Havre de Grace Green Team and the City of Havre de Grace invite you to garden with them (email: firstname.lastname@example.org) by picking up an application form at City Hall, 711 Pennington Ave., 410-939-1800. Each community garden features your own plot, a shared water supply and other common resources at a modest fee of $35 annually.
It's not too early to collect those items for the Havre de Grace Community-wide Yard Sale April 26 (raindate April 27). Contact me for details, 410-939-6562. Spaces are available for $10. Note: Businesses downtown, how about a sidewalk sale?

Take advantage of Clean-Up Days – April 19 and 26 and May 3, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. sponsored by the Havre de Grace Department of Public Works, 410-939-1800, ext. 1107.
Grace Place Serving Center will serve a free, hot meal April 8 from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, 114 N. Union Ave. in Havre de Grace. Phone 410-939-2107 for details. Volunteers will provide the luncheon to anyone in need who enters.
The Havre de Grace Historic Preservation Commission has a quiz for students in kindergarten through fifth grade and sixth through 12th grades to win an oval sticker "I walked the Lafayette Trail." On April 10, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 47 presents a card party, noon to 4 p.m. at the Legion, 501 St. John St., Havre de Grace. You are invited to join the C.A.T. Club, "Citizens Against Trash." The CAT Club is striving to make Havre de Grace the cleanest city in Maryland. If you enjoy meeting people, getting some exercise and doing some good – join them! They meet at Rochambeau Plaza (Washington, St. John and Green streets) at 8:30 a.m. every Saturday for one hour to pick up litter around the town.
