O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree. Well it is that time of year again folks. The annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony in the Perryville lot adjacent to Rodgers Tavern will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 14. There will be caroling, Santa will make an appearance and crafts and refreshments will be for sale.
Condolences are sent to Jerry and Bruce Van Hart on the passing of their beloved mother, Mabel E. Van Hart. Mabel and her late husband Everett were long-time residents of Perryville Road. They sold their home here on Route 222 and moved up to Cecil Woods. After Everett's passing, Mabel eventually moved to County Meadows Assisted Living Home in York, Pa., where she lived until her passing. An Eastern Star memorial service was held for Sister Mabel by the members of Victory Chapter No. 40 from Aberdeen.
It is with heart-felt sympathy that condolences are sent to the family and the fire personnel family of David Barr Sr. David passed from injuries suffered in the line of duty while directly traffic at an accident scene on Route 40.
Calling all crafters: St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Aberdeen will hold a holiday bazaar on Saturday, Dec., 7. The bazaar will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you are interested in selling your crafts, call Becky at the St. Paul's office at 410-272-3111.
St. Paul's Lutheran also is pleased to announce a Christmas concert by the singer-songwriter Charlie Zahm, also on Dec. 7 starting at 7 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults; children under 16 admitted free. A basket bingo is planned tonight, Nov. 15, at the American Legion in Aberdeen, sponsored by the Aberdeen High PTSA. Doors open at 6 p.m. with early bird at 6:50 and regular bingo starting at 7 p.m. Cost is $12 per ticket and $5 for extras. Tickets available by calling Brenda Conjour at 410-273-7332. A quarter auction is planned Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Aberdeen VFW Post, 206 Spesutia Road, Aberdeen. Doors open at 5 p.m. and auction begins at 6 p.m. Maximum of three paddles per person at $2 each. Food and beverages available. Bring a canned good or non-perishable food item for bonus prize ticket.
Another quarter auction is planned for Nov. 22 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 201 Mt. Royal Ave., in Aberdeen. Doors open at 6 p.m., event starts at 7; food and drinks will be available. Paddles $2 each, maximum of two. Benefits St. Paul's women's spring retreat.
