Congratulations to Pastor Neale Wirtanen, who just retired after 36 year of ministry at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Aberdeen. Roger and I were privileged to serve as worship assistants on the last Sunday that Pastor Neale gave his final sermon. The week before, more than 200 family members and members of the congregation gathered at a retirement luncheon is his honor at the Bayou Restaurant in Havre de Grace. It was a bittersweet farewell to Pastor Neale for many of the members.

My family celebrated the 64th wedding anniversary of Herbert and Mary Lou Southall Sunday with a lobsterfest in their honor. Those in attendance were Roger and I, Janet Southall and Linda Southall-Barton. Family members unable to attend were Shirley and Don Morse; Ruth, Karl and Hannah Ventela; Roger, Sarah and Caden Southall; Donny and Hannah Morse; Natalie and Jeffrey Barton. Mary Lou and "Sonny" (Herbert) were married at the home of Mary Lou's parents, Carl and Theresa Goodman, on March 31, 1950, a Friday night. Mary Lou did not want a Saturday wedding because it would have fallen on April Fools Day and she said she wasn't going to be married on April Fools Day. The best man was Bill Triplett, friend of the groom, and the maid of honor was Edith Goodman, sister of bride. The bride and groom honeymooned at Niagara Falls.
A yard sale to benefit the Youth Leadership Training Fund at St. Paul's Lutheran Church will be held on Saturday, April 26 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Table rental is $10 for one 8-foot table. Questions contact Brenda Conjour, 410-273-7332 or email@example.com.
