Chick-fil-A, Aldi set sights on Aberdeen

Aberdeen could soon be getting two new businesses: a Chick-fil-A restaurant on Beards Hill Road and an Aldi grocery store on Route 40.

Both businesses submitted preliminary site plans to be reviewed by Aberdeen's Planning Commission members at their meeting Wednesday. Chick-fil-A also submitted a subdivision plan.

An exact address for the planned Chick-fil-A was not immediately available.

Chick-fil-A is about to open a restaurant on Rock Spring Road in Forest Hill on July 26, and also has a restaurant in Abingdon.

Meanwhile, Aldi, a discount grocery store, would be across the street from Walmart.

It would also be next door to a new Royal Farms store and gas station, construction of which is moving forward.

Aldi also has a store in Edgewood that opened in 1999.

The Aberdeen store would be Aldi's 10th in the Baltimore area.
