Shoplifter steals phone at gunpoint at Aberdeen Walmart

Aberdeen police are searching for a shoplifter at Walmart who was able to flee after displaying a gun on Monday night.

The shoplifter, a woman, was seen hiding a phone at the store, in the 600 block of South Philadelphia Boulevard, at about 11:33 p.m., Aberdeen Police Department spokesman Lt. Fred Budnick said Tuesday.

She was approached by loss prevention officials after she passed all the registers without paying. The woman then produced the weapon, causing store officials to back off and ultimately notify police, Budnick said.

No one was hurt but the suspect got away.

The suspect is described as a black female, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 140-150 pounds. She was wearing all black clothing, except for a pink, puffy vest. She was carrying a black handgun, Budnick said.
