Edgewood woman arrested in Aberdeen Walmart armed robbery

The shoplifter who displayed a gun and fled the Aberdeen Walmart last month was arrested Saturday, according to charging documents.

Tinesha Shataye Ella Williams, 31, of the 2800 block of Captains Cove Court in Edgewood, is charged with armed robbery, robbery, first- and second-degree assault, use of a firearm in a violent crime, theft less than $100 and carrying a handgun.

Williams allegedly pointed a gun at a Walmart employee at about 11:33 p.m. on Jan. 30 after she was seen hiding a phone on her, according to Aberdeen police.

She was approached by loss prevention officials after she passed all the registers without paying. Williams then allegedly produced the weapon, causing store officials to back off and ultimately notify police, Aberdeen Police Lt. Fred Budnick said.

No one was hurt in the incident.

Williams was ordered held on $75,000 during a bail review Tuesday.
