Man injured after shots are fired at Aberdeen home early Monday

An Edgewood man was injured after shots were fired into an Aberdeen home early Monday morning, city police said.

A bullet grazed the thumb of Jamar L. Holmes, 24, of the 500 block of Meadowood Drive, as he sat in the living room of a home in the 600 block of Pinehurst Street at about 1:07 a.m., Aberdeen Police Department spokesman Lt. Fred Budnick said.

Holmes was treated at the scene by Aberdeen Fire Department paramedics and taken to Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace and was later released, Budnick said.

Several rounds were also fired into the front of the house, police discovered.

Several other people were in the home at the time but no one else was injured, Budnick said.

Investigators were still looking for suspects and a motive on Tuesday, he said.

Holmes was visiting the house and it is not known if the incident is drug- or gang-related, Budnick said.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the Criminal Investigation Section of the Aberdeen Police, 410-272-2121.
