Aberdeen man accused of child sex abuse

An Aberdeen man has been charged with sexually abusing two teenage girls, according to a statement of charges on file in court.

Brian Craig Smith, 46, of the 1200 block of Perryman Road, has been charged with multiple counts of second-degree sex offense, third-degree sex offense, second-degree assault and sex abuse of a minor, according to online court records

On June 14, one of the alleged victims told the Harford County Child Advocacy Center, which had received a report of alleged child abuse on June 8, that Smith had made them perform sexual acts on him during the summer of 2010 and 2011, according to court charging documents.

On June 17, a second girl told investigators the alleged abuse began when she was 7 and the last incident occurred several years ago. She did not remember, however, exactly what happened in that last incident, the charging documents state.

She told investigators she did what he asked because she was afraid Smith would hurt her, according to the charging documents.

She also told investigators, Smith allegedly hit her in the face and arm and burned her with a cigarette, according to the charging documents.

Smith was ordered held in lieu of $250,000 bail during a District Court bail review Thursday. He remained in jail at the Harford County Detention Center as of Monday morning.
