McCluskey leads Eagles

Jimmia McCluskey led the Aberdeen girls to third place in the Class 3A North Region Meet at North Harford May 18, earning a return trip to the state meet in which she last year won the 100 and long jump, the latter in a Harford County record of 19 feet.

McCluskey won the 100 in 12.29, the 200 in 24.87, and the long jump in 17-11-3/4. She then ran with Jazmine Harris, Aria Real, and Cierra Reid to win the 4x100 relay in 50.04.

The Eagles also got a win from Taylor Cole in the shot put, 33-2 1/2, with Alexis Tyler third in 32-4 1/2. Donisha Porter threw the discus 92-8 for fourth place.

Milford Mill won the meet with 145 points, edging Hereford by 1 1/2 points. Aberdeen scored 87.

Kathy Kammerer won the pole vault at 10 feet, giving C.Milton Wright its only win and 10 points toward a fifth-place finish. Bethany Riley was the runner-up in the high jump at 4-10, and Lena Sharesky was third in the triple jump at 33-7. The Mustangs' 4x800 team of Shannon Rogers, Emma Martin, Megan Pavlitsa, and Emma Krebs placed second in 10:09.91. Both the 4x200 and 4x400 teams placed third.

Distance runners Megan Tidey and Casey Welsh scored 22 of North Harford's 43 points. Tidey was third in the 1600 in 5:23.59 and third in the 3200 in 11:50.82. Welsh placed fourth in both the 1600 and 800 in 5:23.94 and 2:28.80.

Mackey, Fransham lead Hawks

The North Harford boys got big performances from their two most reliable performers — Kevin Mackey and Nick Fransham — to finish third in the 3A North Meet on their home track.

Mackey won the discus at 147-6 and the shot put at 47-0 1/2. Fransham won the 3200 in 9:43.11 and was second in the 1600 in 4:36.21.

Tyler Campbell finished second, close behind Mackey in the shot put at 46-3-1/2. Tyler Ayers qualified with a fourth place in the discus at 125-6.

Hawks' vaulter Pete Meehan placed third at 11-6, and teammates Jake Creighton and Gabe Lackey qualified at 10-10. The 4x800 relay of Fransham, David Roloff, Ian Fiser, and Justin Asch finished third in 8:29.97.

Hunter Smith led Bel Air to a seventh-place finish. He took third in the 200 in 23.04 and anchored the team of Josh Jones, Devin Bowers, and Joe Whilden to second in the 4x100 at 44.28. The Bobcats' Chris Davis was third in the triple jump at 40-0 1/2.

The C. Milton Wright boys qualified all four relay teams for the state meet, with the 4x400 foursome of Andrew Corson, Kenny King, Will Hazelton, and Matt Riggins placing the highest, second in 3:31.50.

HdG advances five

Havre de Grace qualified five athletes for the state meet in the 1A North Region meet at New Town High School May 18. In the girls' triple jump, Maddie Larrimore took third at 30-10-3/4, and Ihuoma Okehie, fourth at 29-11-1/4. Amy Kling was third in the shot put at 27-10. In boys competition, Scott Elliott was fourth in the long jump at 19-7, and Geno Napi qualified in the high jump at 5-10.
