An Aberdeen man was killed Wednesday morning while walking on Route 40.
At about 4:50 a.m. Wednesday, Aberdeen police were called to Pulaski Highway near Beards Hill Road Extended, where CPR was being administered to a man, identified as David Robert Brooke Jr., 32, of Walnut Lane in Aberdeen, according to a press release from the Aberdeen Police Department.
Brooke was walking east on Route 40 toward Havre de Grace, on the fast lane shoulder near the median, when he was hit by a 1996 Chevy Blazer being driven by a 50-year-old man from Aberdeen, according to the release. The driver, whose name was not released, was not injured.
Paramedics from the Aberdeen Fire Department took Brooke to Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The eastbound lanes of Pulaski Highway were closed until about 7 a.m.
Police are investigating the crash, but don't expect charges to be filed, Aberdeen Police Lt. Fred Budnick said. He said it's most likely pedestrian error.
It is the eighth fatal accident on Harford County roads this year.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
