Aberdeen man charged in rape at motel

An Aberdeen man has been charged with raping a woman at the motel where he lives.

Samuel Jason Reeves, 25, of the 600 block of South Philadelphia Boulevard in Aberdeen, is charged with second-degree rape, second-degree assault and first-degree burglary.

The 23-year-old woman told police Saturday she arrived at her room at the motel in the 600 block of South Philadelphia Boulevard and saw a man standing in the doorway of the room next to her, according to charging documents. She went into her room and a short time later heard a knock at her door.

When she opened it, the man from next door was at her doorway, she told police. The woman said she tried to end the conversation with the man, later identified as Reeves, and she tried to shut the door, but he stepped into her room, according to charging documents.

The woman said she told Reeves to go, but he allegedly began trying to pull own her shorts, according to charging documents. She told police she resisted, but he allegedly forced her onto the bed and raped her, court documents say.

When he finished, Reeves allegedly said he was "stupid" and he shouldn't have done what he did, according to charging documents.

Reeves left and the victim called a friend who took her to her mother's house, where the victim called police. She was taken to Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace, where she was examined, according to charging documents.

According to charging documents, the victim told police her alleged assailant was "Sam Reeves," gave them a description and later picked his photo from an array of six.

Reeves was arrested and taken to Harford County Detention Center, where he was being held Thursday on $75,000 bail.
