Havre de Grace man accused of raping teenager

A Havre de Grace man has been charged with rape after a teenage acquaintance told Havre de Grace police the man assaulted her in early December.

Antonio Cruz, 23, of the 400 block of Congress Avenue, is accused of raping a 14-year-old girl who agreed to come to his apartment at about 8 p.m. on Dec. 7 to smoke marijuana, according to charging documents.

The victim told police Cruz, whom she called "Righteous," had forced her to perform sexual intercourse, according to the statement of charges.

"Cruz and the victim were not in any formal relationship," Ofc. Jeff Gilpin of Havre de Grace police said.

The two did know each other, however, Gilpin said.

Cruz was charged with second-degree rape, third-degree sex offense and fourth-degree sex offense.

He was ordered held on $350,000 bail by Harford County District Court Judge Mimi Cooper during a bail review Monday.
