Perryville boy TASERed in bicycle theft case in Havre de Grace

Havre de Grace police TASERed a 17-year-old Perryville boy on Tuesday in a bicycle theft case, Officer Jeff Gilpin reported Thursday.

The school resource officer at Havre de Grace Middle School was told at 9:29 a.m. two males had taken a bicycle from a bicycle rack, Gilpin said.

"As the officer approached the two males outside of the school, one of them took off running, ignoring all commands by the officer to stop," he said. "The officer pursued the subject on foot across an open field. As the officer was chasing after the suspect, the suspect stopped, turned and assumed a fighting stance toward the officers."

"The officer then deployed his agency issued [TASER] which immediately brought the subject into compliance," Gilpin said.

The teen was taken into custody and charged with resisting arrest and trespassing.
