Edgewood continues unbeaten in division of girls lacrosse

The Edgewood girls lacrosse team continued its unbeaten run through the UCBAC's Susquehanna (lower) Division Wednesday, hosting and handily beating Joppatowne, 13-1.

The Rams, who led 11-1 at the half, improved to 5-0 in league play and 6-3 overall. Joppatowne is 1-3 in league and 1-5 overall.

Ladae Boykin led Edgewood scoring with four goals and Alyssa Rankin netted three goals. Megan Poniatowski and Rebecca Nunez added two goals each and single goals were scored by Caitlin Rankin and Allison Bomhardt.

Jillian Graul tallied Joppatowne's lone goal, unassisted.

Alyssa Rankin had two assists for the Rams and Jordyn Carll was credited with one.

Edgewood goalie Savannah Kerr finished with seven saves and Joppatowne keeper Jess Gill made five.

Patriots fall on road

Behind three goals each from Alexis Philips and Emily Cooper (one assist), Archbishop Spalding defeated visiting John Carroll, 12-10, Wednesday afternoon in an IAAM A Conference girls lacrosse game. Spalding led 5-3 at the half.

Meredith Haggerty scored three goals to lead John Carroll (4-6 league, 6-7 overall), which also got two goals from both Alyssa Lazaro and Grace Richards. Kara Klages had the lone assist for the Patriots.

Spalding goalie Victoria LaVeck made three saves and John Carroll keeper Katy Sharretts had five.
